These potential solutions don’t come with a 100 percent guarantee, but many players have fixed that issue by applying them. If they don’t work for you, we recommend you submit a request to Epic’s technical support service. Fall Guys is a battle royale title many players install via Epic Games. However, some Fall Guys players see an Epic Games Account Error message with a 200_001 code when they start that game.

I do like Linux for those who mentioned it, but I'm not familiar enough with it to use it as my Hyper-visor which would place me back in the same boat lol. I don't see why W10 would be a problem for a testing setup. If you were going to rely on VM's running 24/7 for a mass of users I wouldn't recommend it but for learning and testing, why not. That said, will Windows 10 Pro manage to do all the general use stuff I'm looking to do while not ending up overwhelmed by just maintaining or setting it up? I'm not unwilling to learn new things as I go, but like I said I'm not looking to become a Server Admin, I mostly just want to screw around. Spec wise it's a pair a Xeons with 64gb RAM so spec wise I should be ok running whatever if I could just nail down a good starting point lol.
Why not use the cloud instead of a home lab?
Assuming that you have other client PCs to configure, you’ll need to set those up next; but with your newly acquired experience, you should have no problems doing that. You’ll also want to configure global server settings, which we will discuss under three headings. This procedure is a little tricky with existing hardware.

By default Windows Server doesn’t have working audio. At the bottom in the notifications area, you will notice a sound icon with an “x” mark right next to it. Then it’s just a matter of working through the rest of the wizard. When you get to the following Welcome screen, you’re almost done.
Configuring a Client
These people, often quite rightly, don’t feel comfortable testing things on their employer’s hardware. They would much rather tinker with ESXi, for example, on their home server. Back in the day, I used to run all of my email accounts from my home server. It was very rewarding, but if I’m honest it became a bit too much of a hassle. That said, if you’ve never administered your own email server before, I can recommend giving it a try. If nothing else, like running a web server, you can truly learn a lot about the technical side of how email works.

Today, it's not uncommon for everyone in the family to have at least one PC, sometimes two. It will display your network’s health and show security warnings . In this instance we can see one of the machines on the network has its firewall turned off. The Resources area give you the status of your server software and hardware as well. Under Computers & Backup you select the backup times for the computers on your home network. Backup management and cleanup are also handled in this area.
Bonus: connect your server to a VPN
I run it as a virtual machine on my home server though as it’s a fairly simple piece of software that runs on Debian Linux. Thirdly, and perhaps most excitingly, it allows you to tweak DNS responses. This software will accept DNS lookup requests but only selectively lookup and return the corresponding IP address. If Pi-hole determines that the domain or host name belongs to and advertisement, tracking, spyware, or analytics server it won’t return the correct IP address. In effect, Pi-hole keeps you safe from malicious attacks but primarily from Internet Ads. Accessing you files from a local file server/NAS is going to be lightening fast, especially with today’s cheap 1Gb network speeds.
The total cost for our project, including the operating system and two 750GB drives, came to $585. You are now at the properties window for this particular policy. To understand more about it, you can click the “Explain” tab for a detailed explanation. By clicking the “Enabled” option below in the “Local Security Setting” tab, you will no longer be required to press CTRL+ALT+DEL when logging into your Windows Server computer.
Email is a very old technology too, so not only is it well documented, it’s quite nostalgic too, like a link back to the past. Running your own Web server from home can be great fun. For many years, I hosted my personal blog/CV from a server in my basement. There’s a real satisfaction from knowing that you can tap an address into your browser from anywhere in the world and the disks in your server will spin up and it’ll dutifully serve your website. This is probably the most popular use of a home server and is something a lot of people do, even in they’re not very technical.

First, the license for OEM software ties it to one computer—namely the first one you install it on. This prevents you from transferring the license if, say, you want to upgrade to a more powerful system in a year or two. In addition, Microsoft doesn’t offer technical support with OEM software; that’s the responsibility of the OEM, which technically is you. You can also use a hybrid cloud system and combine an in-house server with cloud storage. This way, you can run some of your operations in the cloud and others on your server. However, this type of solution is mostly used by enterprises and is not typical among home users.
With it, you can have a secure dedicated IP address and whitelist it. This way, only those with a specific IP will be able to connect to the server. Playing media does take up a significant amount of your computer's processing power.
It really helps you start to understand how domain names, web services, and the Internet in general are all glued together. If you’re hoping to gain experience to eventually get a job in IT then you’ll probably want to follow the Microsoft route and install Microsoft Exchange on your home server. Most of the “email admin” jobs currently on the market are for Microsoft Exchange. Similarly, if you’re already working in IT, perhaps in a support role and hoping to progress then running your own MS Exchange home server could help you out.
For those who can't run the full version of SQL Server, there's the SQL Server Express Edition; its biggest limitation is that it can't deal with any single database bigger than 1GB. Another server-level app from Microsoft that will run on desktop editions of Windows, but with connection constraints, is Internet Information Server. One of the most commonly cited reasons for using Server at home is its support for more than 10 simultaneous NetBIOS connections.

Today we’ll take a look at Windows Home Server and show you how to install and configure it with other machines on your network. If you have any troubles with accessing server from other computers — try to play with security settings for sharing folders. I installed openmediavault on an old PC as NAS and for me it works great, having had no experience with linux / terminal beforehand.
Agree to the Home Server Privacy Statement and the Live Custom Domains Addendum. If you’re concerned about privacy and want to learn more about the domain addendum, make sure to read about it before agreeing. There is nothing abnormal to point out about either statement, but if this is your first time setting it up, it’s good to review the information.
Home labs give you a place where you can hone your IT skills away from the watchful eyes of co-workers. A home lab can be useful for a range of technical tasks, from preparing for a certification exam to practicing a procedure before you deploy it to the production environment. A new Windows Server version release is also another good reason to put together a home lab to see what's new and what's been updated.
